Kick Off

Rooney sees red again. The opponent again is a Portugal team FC Porto. He somewhat seems to have got an impression of a hard tackling player. With the kind of refereeing standards being set, it seems he would have a tough season ahead. But he's the sort of player any team would like to have and any fan would love to watch. You dont want to see players blowing kisses and feeding lollipops on the football field. Rooney will go a long way even with the reputation he has today.
Coming to his worldcup nemesis (as the English Hooligans think) Christiano Ronaldo, More than a month after the world cup the ghosts still haunt Ronaldo. He came off the pages, thanks to the Zidane header. He was booed in Oxford where he scored 2 goals in the match. He'll take some time to come to terms with the English fans even with Rooney on his side.
And as the season comes to a start, there'll be much more viewership this time round. The worldcup did leave the taste for a short pacy eventful 2-hour entertainer for many people who thought the best game is played over 5 days in white shirts!!
